Nestled in stone with maturing Pinot Noir below, the Haute Cabrière tasting room is the perfect platform to indulge in our wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In summer, take in the unique view of the Franschhoek Valley, whilst in winter enjoy tastings next to our fireplace.
One of the few examples of primeval forest left in South Africa. Noted for its rare trees. Bushpig, red and blue and grey duiker, banded and slender mongoose and velvet monkey occur. Both species of mamba and python are to be found. Trails through the forest are conducted by the Umhlanga centre of the Wildlife Society. This is a private reserve and permission to visit must be obtained.
The walk to the 27th tee takes one through an ecological area that is a riot of colour at certain times of the year. Look out for sunbirds. Definite risk and reward Par 5 with a generously wide Fairway to the advantage of the long hitter. The lateral hazards left and right and the divided Fairway make calculated tactical decisions necessary. The two-tier, well bunkered Green makes a great finish to a splendid golf hole.
There are many ways to see the Cape Winelands, with its brilliant colours, craggy mountains and maniucured vineyards, but none as exciting and unique as riding in a hot air balloon.
