First to specialize in the exclusive production of red wine only, Rust en Vrede is now South Africa’s Premium red wine Estate. Our full-bodied, new-oak matured wines are a manifestation of the supremacy of the Stellenbosch region when it comes to the making of truly great red wines.
For 321 years Rust en Vrede has stood peacefully among the vineyards of Stellenbosch. Through centuries there were periods when wine was produced, but for the last 32 years our family have specialized in producing only red wine with the focus on Syrah, Cabernet and Merlot. Many accolades have been bestowed upon the estate and some of the more memorable were when Rust en Vrede was chosen by President Nelson Mandela to be served at the Nobel Peace Prize dinner and hosting the Queen of Denmark for a lunch with my family at the Manor House
Nestled in stone with maturing Pinot Noir below, the Haute Cabrière tasting room is the perfect platform to indulge in our wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In summer, take in the unique view of the Franschhoek Valley, whilst in winter enjoy tastings next to our fireplace.
Fairview is a working farm housing a collection of micro-businesses all sharing in a common goal – to create artisanal and sustainable produce, with a focus on fine wine and cheese. They have been caring custodians of the land since 1693, and invite you to come and visit and see for yourself how the farm operates, supports the environment and contributes to a more holistic lifestyle. Everything we do is driven by our philosophy of being honest, honouring our heritage and ensuring that ingenuity perpetually flows from our soils and cellars and straight into the heart of your relationship with us.
Iona is the coolest vineyard in the Cape, 420m above sea-level, high above the picturesque Elgin Valley.
Iona is surrounded by the Kogelberg Nature Reserve and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean in the South. In a country where cool sites are precious, these vineyards are like gold — the grapes ripening up to two months later than other Cape vineyards and in perfect balance.
Best suited grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Bordeaux/Shiraz, Northern Rhone, Sauvignon Blanc
Uva Mira Mountain Vineyards is situated in the coastal region of South Africa, an area that boasts some of the oldest soils in the world. Evidence of this lies in the tall, weathered mountains that grace the surrounding landscape and the Helderberg Mountain Range against which our vineyards nestle.
Wine farm Klein Constantia is dating back to 1685 and described as one of the world’s most beautiful wine estates, Klein Constantia is set amidst ancient trees on the upper foothills of the Constantiaberg, with views across False Bay.
Webersburg warmly invites you to its elegantly restored Cape Dutch homestead and boutique winery which is nestled against the slopes of the Helderberg mountains in the heart of the Stellenbosch wine lands.
The Newton Johnson Family Vineyards Pinot Noir was selected as one of the top 3 Pinots in the world outside Burgundy. This is a wine that has received 5 stars in Platter’s for every single vintage submitted since 2009 – an extraordinary track record that is unmatched by any other producer.
Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is acclaimed as one of the great botanic gardens of the world. Few gardens can match the sheer grandeur of the setting of Kirstenbosch, against the eastern slopes of Cape Town’s Table Mountain.

South Africa has plenty to offer. European tourists often come for a bit of winter sun. While the climate is perfect for a relaxing break and spot of game viewing
2017 was the year when we visited lovely vineyards in Cape Town, South Africa. Most vineyards are located in the beautiful wine district of Constantia, 20min from the city center
